How to Rebrand Signage Across Multiple Sites: Ortwein Sign’s Insider Tips for Success

If you run a business with multiple locations, or you’re a corporate office overseeing your franchisees, rebranding your business at large can seem like a daunting task. You have to maintain the company’s brand at large while also ensuring that each location or franchise matches as well, or if any distinction is allowed that at least fits within the parameters of your allowable brand guidelines. At Ortwein Sign, we help regional and national companies rebrand all the time, as part of that task we always return to these steps to ensure a successful rebrand and signage rollout.

1. Establish the Brand Guidelines

Example of a rebrand with Burger King’s logo change

Likely in a corporate office you’ve already set brand guidelines; however, as you’re rebranding ensure your new brand guidelines are clear, well documented, and delivered to all who may to know these new guidelines. If for instance you have a franchisee who will be needing to procure their own signage make sure they have the right details they can provide to their sign company of choice so they understand what is needed for the rebrand.

This step crucially can save money and time for all parties.

2. Coordinate wtih Sign Companies Project Managers to Determine Scope and Timeframe

Whether you’re working with a national sign company, or several regional sign companies such as Ortwein Sign, ensure that you work alongside their team and especially their Project Manager to determine the scope and timing of the rollout. Our expert Project Managers can help you better understand the timetable for manufacturing, installation, and permitting. By doing so you keep the rebrand on track and smooth as possible.

This step helps keep the rebrand on-track for success in as timely a fashion as possible.

3. Project Managers Will Determine Your Permitting Needs

Since this is a national rebrand, you’ll likely need to have permits for your signage across multiple municipalities. An expert Project Manager such as ours at Ortwein Sign can handle permitting for you and help to make the process as painless as possible.

4. It’s Time to Start Manufacturing the Signs for the Rebrand

Your next step after understanding the scope and timeline is to get to work manufacturing the signs, or more likely hire a sign company to handle your sign manufacturing needs. You’ll want to work with an expert sign company who can handle the work and maintain brand standards throguhout the manufacturing process.

At Ortwein Sign, we are a full-service one-stop-shop for all of your exterior and interior signage needs! From pylon signs to monument signs, neon to ADA complaint signage, and more we do it all!

5. Ensure Each Site is Installation Ready

With the timetable your Project Manager developed in Step 2 ready, and the signage nearing its completed manufacturing date, you’ll want to prepare for the installation of your new rebranded signage. Our Project Manager will work with you, or your local store owners or franchisees, to ensure we have access for the day of the insallation, including wall access, access for cranes, entry to the building, and more. Once that is complete and the signs are fabricated our Project Managers will give the installation team a go.

Without access, delays can occur that cost time and money.

6. Install the Signs for Your Rebrand at Various Locations and Storefronts

The day has arrived and now your signs are to be installed! Your expert sign crew, such as our installer team at Ortwein Sign, will be on-site installing the sign to the specifications set ahead of time by the rebrand documents and any discussions between your team, our sales account manager, and our project manager. If you can not be on-site yourself, then we’ll send photos to whomever you need to see completion photos, or if there’s a local representative we’ll coordinate with them to ensure a final sign-off. After this we’ll continue on with each location till your rebrand is complete at all of your locations!
