2025 Brand and Signage Trends

As we step into 2025, we turn our attention to the emerging brand and signage trends of the year. These trends often begin to take shape in the latter months of the previous year, and 2024 was no exception. Here are the predictions from our designers for the styles and themes set to dominate in 2025.

1. Bright but Muted Colors

Jaguar Type 00

Our designers anticipate a surge in the use of bright yet muted colors in brand palettes this year. This trend has already appeared in concepts like Jaguar’s recent electric vehicle (EV) designs. Earth tones, in particular, are predicted to dominate as companies seek to evoke sophistication through their color choices.

2. Pantone Color of the Year 2025

The Pantone Color Institute has announced PANTONE 17-1230 Mocha Mousse as the Color of the Year for 2025. This earthy brown tone contrasts expectations of a green continuation from the “Brat summer” aesthetic of recent years. While some have criticized the choice, Mocha Mousse reflects a broader trend of earthy hues becoming more prominent.

3. High Contrast Serif Fonts

In the world of signage, high contrast serif fonts are making a comeback. These fonts convey elegance but often require adaptation for signage applications. Our team works to enhance the stroke width and boldness of these delicate typefaces to ensure their legibility and practicality for signage while maintaining the brand’s aesthetic integrity.

4. Rebrands

2025’s milestone as a quarter-century mark has prompted numerous brands to refresh their identities. For example, Walmart recently introduced a subtle logo update that balances heritage with modern innovation. In contrast, Mountain Dew opted for a bolder rebrand to celebrate its 75th anniversary, reviving its mountain-inspired imagery and the tagline, “The Mountains Are Calling.”

5. A.I. Is Here to Stay (For Better or Worse)

Last year we first brought up A.I. in our ‘Trends in in Signage and Branding 2024’ post, and now it’s only become more clear that AI, despite still being a hotly debated topic, increasingly seems like it’s here to stay. From its use in a likely Academy Award front-runner film The Brutalist, to its implementation in ads by Coca-Cola, AI is transforming the landscape of how we do business. Though its effect to some seems to be simply creating uncanny valley images and videos presently (with some more convincing than others), it’s a trend we expect to only ramp up across nearly all industries.
