First Bank – 1221 Broadway (Nashville, TN)
Ortwein Sign partnered with First Bank of Tennessee to let their logo fly high above Nashville on the new 1221 Broadway building. Broadway Ave. is quickly becoming the “NEW” downtown entrance to the Music City. Ortwein Sign was contracted to handle this project, and we were tasked with generating final designs for signage including construction drawings, engineering, fabrication and installation. This included the attachment methods to integrate the sign into the modern glass curtain wall. These 55 foot signs are internally illuminated with thousands of super bright LED’s to ensure the signage shines brightly on the skyline. The installed signs stand apart as beacons to all who enter Nashville day and night.
Design:
Ortwein Sign was tasked with designing a custom large scale skyline sign approximately 400 feet above the roadway to Nashville’s downtown corridor. We needed our design to complement the ultra modern aesthetic of 1221’s diamond-like faceted glass design features.
Manufacturing:
The 12′ hangers each have a unique depth following the building’s facets, each calculated to hold the respective sections of the sign frames.
The 14′ tall frame was built in three sections for safe transport.
Installation
The installation of the new signage on 1221 Broadway allows First Bank’s logo to be seen from miles around downtown Nashville, thus creating a very inviting entrance to the downtown area. In particular this is a welcoming sight when Nashville’s world famous nightlife kicks into gear each evening.
Project Info:
- Ortwein Sign started with a custom steel hanger system 12′ tall that would attach to the building and hold the sign’s framework.
- We designed a 14′ by 50′ frame in three large pieces and transported them seperately to the site for final installation.
- We designed each literal with internal illumination t. Nashville weather was a design consideration as tornado’s are known to impact the downtown area with very highwind loads.
- Through our design, we developed First Bank’s logo into a custom 14′ by 55′ tall internally illuminated 7100k GE LED lit carbonate faced sky sign.
